OUR FOCUS
At R. Smith Construction, Inc. we have been designing and building custom luxury homes for almost 25 years. Our unique client-centered approach matters. We create relationships with our clients and strive to make each client’s home building experience so exceptional that we ultimately become friends.
We also pride ourselves on quality - quality workmanship, quality materials, quality service - and strong partnerships with a team of dedicated subcontractors who hold themselves to the same standards and work ethic we expect from ourselves.
Over the years, we have worked diligently to build a reputation as a leading custom home builder in the Stevens Point/Central Wisconsin area. Our homes are completed on time and on budget, and we are proud to have many satisfied clients as a result.
OUR TEAM APPROACH

ENVISION
It all begins with an idea. A vision. To bring that vision to life, we provide a complete custom and personalized home-building experience from the start, using a team approach. We offer an in-house draftsman for plan drawing along with cabinetry design services and exterior/interior design services if desired. We also offer a full range of excavation services.
If you are interested in working with us, an initial meeting is set up at one of our offices. This meeting includes Ryan, owner and master carpenter of R. Smith Construction, Inc., as well as our in-house draftsman, Derek. We listen to the potential clients’ wants/needs, go through a general questionnaire to gain more information on the type of home the clients are interested in, and ask relevant questions. From there, a small deposit is taken for drafting fees and Derek gets to work designing a floor plan.

DESIGN
During the design phase, several meetings are held with various members of our team until the plan is to the clients’ wishes. Tracy, our designer, is an integral part of this process. During the later drafting stages, our Andersen window representative and Wisconsin Building Supply representative join the design team meetings to help finalize material selections and/or placements, etc.

BUILD
Once the plans are finalized, our in-house excavation team begins land clearing, road building, and other necessary excavation work.
While construction is underway, clients can expect to see all hands on deck. We have framing crews and finish crews composed of skilled carpenters and laborers. Ryan works alongside the crews every day. Our dedicated subcontractors, experts in their trades, are an integral part of our team as well, providing us the ability to streamline the building process for our clients through constant communication between all team members. This approach helps alleviate the overwhelm clients often face while completing the build and in a timely and cost-effective manner.
(Meetings are held with the clients on-site, as needed, for electrical walk-throughs, product selections, design decisions, etc.)
